Hi
had wheels off today and noticed the dust boots on the front shockers have disintegrated. seems a bit bit of a pain to replace. read somewhere not essential. what is the score when it comes to a WOF

dust boots front shockers

Post by RobA » Sat Oct 01, 2016 9:43 am

Hi there,
I have the same issue with my 1989, and plan to replace front and rear when I fit new shocks and springs. But I cannot find part numbers or anyone who can tell me - I have tried Repco, Capital City Ford-Mazda and spare-parts.co.nz.
Anyone have ideas?

BTW mine has passed several WOFs with the boots as they are..
Cheers
Robert

I've never seen an NA OEM strut that doesn't have a failed dust boot. It's not a WOF item, but it will allow road grime to get into the gland seal on top of the damper.

The dust boot is part of the bump stop. You might be able to use a generic boot, but it's not worth changing the boot on junk shock absorbers.
