Dummy alarm light

Post by warrior » Mon Dec 09, 2013 4:46 pm

My sister cant afford an alarm at the moment so I got her a dummy alarm light from jarcar today, went to fit it and for the life of me I cant get it to work.

It has no instructions.

It has one red wire and one black wire.

I did a quick search on the net and the best I could see was...

RED wire to constant power.

Black wire to ACC power.

But this will not work. Any ideas guys???????

Black needs to be earthed. I would try it to the ACC ground, so that when ACC is off, it comes on.

Is the ACC different than a normal earth? I have tried earthing the black wire and the light works but does not go off.

When I did an LED one on an earlier car I think it worked just by connecting red to pos & black to neg. This will make it run all the time
I then got fancy and used a relay to turn it off while driving and then only flash with the key out.

This should run the correct way without the relay, just need to work out the correct wireing.

Just try it across the battery terminals to see if it goes!

Its not supposed too...that's why I used a relay to cut the power when the ignition was turned on.

This way when ACC is on - the light won't go on, when it's off, the light will come on. I may have worded it backwards, it's late at night :P
