Another question (may as well keep them all together)
Is the timing advance to 14 deg useful on the 1800cc or does it only really give good gains for the 1600? |

14 degree timing on 1.8? - yes, do it. In high load/hot conditions you want to run 95 oct. or better to be on the safe side.
Done your fuel filter lately? (often overlooked during tuneups)

Ok great. I've started running 96 octane so it should handle the timing change no problems....but Ill continue to monitor it after its done (today)
And yep, replaced the fuel filter in Jan....although I do notice another very small filter near the fuel rail? Is this known to get clogged or should everything be nice and clean before it reaches that? |

I am not aware of another filter near the fuel rail as a production item. Are you sure it is a filter. A picture would help. _________________ TG Sports, classic roadster - modern technology. NA1800, 99 head, 11:1 +2mm Wiseco pistons, Link LEM, Alloy f/wheel, JR headers. |

Yep, that is the fuel pressure regulator. It bypasses excess fuel back to the tank. _________________ TG Sports, classic roadster - modern technology. NA1800, 99 head, 11:1 +2mm Wiseco pistons, Link LEM, Alloy f/wheel, JR headers. |

| I have my timing set to 16 at the moment, only runs on 98 and it goes nuts. My mate has a non-turbo S15 Silvia (165hp) and I can beat him all day long |

Well took it around Hampton downs on Saturday and it went really well- Not only does it feel like there is way more torque, the top end feels better too. Im running 96 RON at 14 degrees.....so I could likely either use 91 or advance a few more degrees with 96.
Fun times |

Not necessarily....
14 degrees is probably optimum........ _________________ 93 1.8,intake/ex mods,torsen lsd,konis,RB springs,Toyo T1Rs,cage,momo seat,Willans harness.

BEST TO STICK WITH THE 14* STATIC TIMING ON OEM/ECU SOFTWARE +95 RON FUEL.
*If you are running aftermarket " hump back" or stand alone ecu hardware, it is up to the engine tune requirements and consequently the tuner, to dictate/ write the advance curve maps as per vehicle intended usage.
If you want excitement: BOOST is the answer!

Gravelben will have a taste of "Goes nuts" soon too! _________________ Tires aren't cheap! |

| Thats a point i should point out that yes I am running 16deg but its not a 'factory' engine. It was tuned set up like it is and i have re-mapped ecu, different cams and a ported / polished head. I also only run BP 98 as that was the car was tuned for. |
