Hi,
Can anyone help with this? My aircon in a Mk2 is just not blowing as cold as
it once did, in fact it's barely colder than ambient temp.
Is there an easy fix or is it an expensive trip to the garage?
thanks
ian
aircon trouble
aircon trouble
Hi Ian,
In most aircon systems there is a check window built into the air
conditioning lines, usually high up and against the firewall,
(I have not had a chance to see if my 94 car has one, but I suspect it
will) It is a little round window rather like a tripod level.
With the engine and aircon on, check this window.
If there are a few bubbles your system has enough Gas.
If there are lots of bubbles you are short of gas
If there are no bubbles there is no gas.
I suspect that, barring mechanical failure, that is your problem. You can
get a re-gas for under $100, but the gas has to have got out somewhere, so
you might have a leak, which needs checking.
Hopefully it's a fairly cheap thing to fix
I hope this helps
