NA headers

Post by warrior » Wed Dec 07, 2011 7:08 pm

Just to let everyone know....I purchased some stainless headers from REDLINE PERFORMANCE and went to al,s mufflers today to get them fitted with my new muffler etc. AND THEY DONT FIT!!!!!!!!!

Word to the wise DONT buy headers from these guys in my eyes this is totally unaceptable. I have wasted my time, the muffler shops time and now I have to get everything refitted (which I guess will cost me) and find some headers that do fit.

Cant see how anyone can sell parts that dont fit the car they are ment too.

I rang them and they did not even say "sorry about that" just return them, well thats crap as far as i,m concerned.

Were they for an 1800 perhaps? as there is a minor difference between 1.6 & 1.8 engines.

They were sold as 1.6 headers. The gasket fitted perfectly but the headers were quite a bit out. The worst part is the lack of careing from the sales person. If I was selling these and they did not fit I would be very unhappy and would sort something out quickly. They did not seem to be very worried about it at all. It will in intreasting to see if they continue to sell them on trade me after I return my ones.

Lessons to be learned here-always take your old gasket & compare if possible! :D ....or trace one & get a template for the next time.

Well I'm glad I managed to avoid using them. I was in need of some headers a while back after my ones kept splitting. Give Mazbits a call since that's where I got my maxim works ones which I was very lucky to get

Doesn't sound too good, gotta hate the whole no apology. You're already a bit miffed, then to make matters worse they don't seem to give a shit.

Getting a refund or a replacement?

Got some new headers for DRIFT MAX in penrose, fitted perfectly. Just picked up my car......stainless headers, stainless conecting pipe (cat removed) stainless resonator and stainless JACKSON RACING rear muffler.

ITS BLOODY GREAT!

It is the best thing I have done to my car so far. The system has a great sound, not too noisy but perfect. It does not drone at all, could not be happier.

The o2 sensor is further away but seems just fine, I have a air/fuel guage and looks very good to me.

It has a bit more go in the top end but much more in the mid range.

Looks, sounds and goes perfectly.

Good work. I love when the pains of a modification work out for the best in the end!

by the way the work was done at Als mufflers and they were great. They do great work and were very easy to deal with.

If you need exhaust work I would highly recomend them

I bought a set of headers from the mazda wrecker in rotorua a couple of years ago off trademe that fitted "Series 1 1.8 models". picked them up on the way to the mx5 club track day.
went to fit them and found they fit the engine, but the flexi joint hits the pan of the auto trans, so they are only for manual models.

They are a japanese brand that i cant remember and bolt to the cat, o if any one with an NA8C manual wants them, you can have them for the $150 i paid for them

How different are the 1.6s to the 1.8?

Not sure if it's what you mean, but if you are thinking of 'JASMA' it's a sort of certifying body or exhaust standard rather than a brand.

They do have the Jasma tag on them, but they are Apexi brand. on 2nd thoughts i might just hold on to them as im quite keen to build a car for the new roadster race class

APEX'i bits are probably worth holding onto unless you get a worthwhile offer for them. Pity they're NA8 or I'd make an offer higher than that $150
