What would be in your dream garage?

Post by Shermio » Sun May 28, 2006 12:24 am

As the title says, what would you like in your dream garage? (Money is no matter :D ) list the cars and a simple reason why!

Mine would be:

1) '69 Mustang Fastback
2) Koenigsegg CCX
3) Porsche Cayenne TT
4) Ferrari F430 Spyder

1) Good old muscle car are hard to find, yes they are pretty crap to drive, handles like a brick but the look is just beautiful!

2) Aside from reliability, this one is a goer, it's got that supercar shape and the outrageous in your face stance, but still it is more classy than the Zonda...

3) Haha got to have something to haul the trailer :P at light speed nonetheless...

4) This is just an all rounder... looks, ability and style it has top down benefits as well

And maybe a Aston Martin DB9 will fit in somewhere, but that's my top 4

1) Ferrari F430 Spyder
2) Audi RS4 Avant
3) Aston Martin Vantage
4) Ariel Atom

1) I've wanted a Ferrari for the last 35 years and this is my favourite to date. Various motoring writers reckon it's the best car they've ever driven too. The exhaust note sounds fantastic.

2) Need something practical, that can carry 4 people, shopping, and that won't draw vandals like iron filings to a magnet when parked at the supermarket. It's nearly as fast as the Ferrari and it too sounds fantastic.

3) Sounds even better than the others (if that is possible) and is a better looker. Not quite as quick though.

4) I'll have the one with the supercharged Honda S2000 motor. This is the car to drive when you are starting to find that the other 3 don't seem very quick any more and are just a bit ho hum.

I would like the junk cleared out so I could actually fit cars in our
garage! To be fair, the MX5 fits - just.

1. 1930 Speed Six Bentley. - Pure class, good for 200kmph even today and built better than a Mack truck.
2. Lotus Elan Super Sprint. Awful electrics and engine leaky and not too reliable but a true drivers car.
3. Porsche 911. Not fussy about the model. Truly iconic.
4. Citroen 2CV. Cheeky, funny, old fashioned but chic.
5. Aston Martin DB4 Zagato. Sexy!
6. Mini Cooper (the BMC one). One of the most influential cars ever built.
7. Ford Model A. If I could have only one of these cars, this would be it!

Good question - thanks.

Reading the posts to date, how so many supposed MX5 enthusiasts could leave the MX5 off their list, beggars belief!!
Some of the world's most respected motoring journalists are in awe of the MX5 (and have been since 1989 to the present)...so don't overlook what is under your very nose folks. A few well chosen mods, and you already have a car which will bring a smile to your face. For those of you who have never driven on the circuit, can I suggest you drive your MX5 on an open day/at an event etc. You will develop a whole new respect for its capabilities....
A friend of mine owns 3 Porches (1 of which he races). He has engineered a GT3 Cup car here and overseas. And guess what...he wants an MX5.
They say dreams are free, well, with an MX5 you can live the dream... 20 or so more HP as a minimum, some modest suspension upgrades and performance tyres, and all you need is a winding road! But enough of this preaching...I apologise!

In my garage would be:
an RX8 (manual of course), koni suspension/T1R tyres
A Porche GT3 cup car for long distance racing
My current MX5, with a Flyin Miata 2 litre naturally aspirated stroker engine as per Keith Tanners Targa build project.

Cheers :D
