Wow - quick response

Post by zorruno » Thu May 18, 2006 9:01 pm

That was quick... I thought people would think about it for a while before signing up ;)

Welcome all the users that have registered already and all the lurkers thinking about it (yes... I can see you... well, your IP addresses anyway!).

By the way, there were 212 members of the NZ MX5 List as of an hour ago. It will be interesting to see how many users we can get on this forum!

By the way, this site is just a first cut with regards to looks and features, we'll hopefully be able to get more stuffed into it in the future when i have more time. It is up and running at least, which is the main thing.

Let me know what you think?

cheers

Pretty good

Post by YO5016 » Thu May 18, 2006 9:19 pm

but can we change our username? There I was all signed up and then I noticed that that some people used their licence number as the user name.

Cunning idea, I thought - even though I have a boring as hell standard plate - one day, big lotto draw this weekend ;-).

I know it should be possible, I am a member of another phpBB forum that can change the username.

Cheers.

Hmmm posting plates as user names can be both good and bad, Since this is a public forum anyone can see your details, and what you have done to your car and such, could be like a shopping mall for thieves...

But for now I will have mine in my sig... ;)

Yes, too right, however same can be said when driving down the road.

You see an MX5 with a big body kit, front-mount intercooler, blasting sounds, and you're gonna know some works been done on it right?
Just jot down the numberplate and go for a walkies to the nearest Post Shop where you can find where they live.

Just more incentive to alarm it! ;)

My personalized plate arrived yesterday, so Im psyched, and while not being ignorant of the possibilities, I think that Im more likely to be noticed cruising down the street than have somebody look me up from my forums name.

Umm, I was mighty confused for a good 5 minutes, went back and checked what my username was and what my password was. About to follow that 'I forgot my password' link (which wouldn't have worked anyway) when I though I would try the YO.. bit and voila it worked.

Thanks for changing it for me, but, pretty please let people know by email if you are going to suprise them by changing their username :-)

First post to the forum after moving off the mail list. Looking good so far. Congrats to all involved.
I'm off to look at the FAQ to see what's happening with the old mail list content. 8) :D

how about a bit for members cars? A small picture by their user name perhaps. That is what we have on the UK/Scottish site.
