Hey got to agree with that one Lou, especially the 1990 models. Got to be
red though =) And whats this thing with the hardtops? How do you drop
those at traffic lights when the rain eases up???

Where is everybody?
How about this then?
Early 1.6's are the only true MX5!

well now you've done it haven't you!!

I drove the new limited edition Mazda that was touring the country recently, it was a lovely drive - I had a smile on my face all the way around town. BUT my 1990 1.6 CUTEMX in blue is so much more fun. I was running late for work this morning and so cross with myself because I thought I didn't have time to put the top down, now I am here huddled in my sunless office, I just wish I had!

Some of us don't have traffic lights in our little towns!! And we all know red ones go faster, but blue are the cutest, green the classiest, white the cleanest, yellow quite rare (well around here anyway) any colours I missed, sorry but we all love MX5's don't we...gosh I had better get on with some work!

Could be something to do with the shiny thing up in the sky - spent a lot of
Saturday driving with roof down for a change - nearly got sunburnt for my
pains.

The list is ALIVE!
Yeah, hardtops in summer = capital offence.
A thread in the Miata.net forum said that the suspension set-up was changed
after the 1st year of production to make them less tail happy. Seems that
Mazda expected their customers to have better car control skills than they
actually had. Not as bad as MGF's (vomit) being set up to handle like FWD
though.

Yeah I'd been reading that one too, changes were from '91 onwards I recall
=) I prefer that responsive feel though...

Oh dear - a little inverted snobbery creeping in here I feel! Well I love my
gold 1999 MX 1.8, and don't give a shit what anyone else thinks about it :)

Hi all.
Just joined the list today after purchasing my 1992 BRG V spec MX5 last
weekend. It's definitely a top down day in Blenheim today, and as I work from
home (my own boss) I get to use the MX5 for work as well as play. Much more
fun then the Isuzu Bighorn it sits beside. Need 4WD for a lot of my long
distance work though. Can't fit many spares and electronic test equipment in
the MX5.
Off to a job now with the roof down (of course)!!

I wouldn't bother on the later cars, just bang them through the car wash ;o)

P.S Meguiars is great on early cars, I think later model owners could lower
themselves to use it too.

I am completely in agreement with this contentious statement, though perhaps
'93 doesn't count as 'early', though a 1600 engine might let me get away with
it...

It occurs to me looking on the club website and elsewhere that a truly early
car ('89 or '90) with a mileage >120,000 km must represent one of the best
value for money fun vehicle packages around. A friend has just shelled out
nearly 50K on a bottom of the range Z3 which is four years old and doesn't
have so much as a Cd player- makes me very happy with my MX at a third the
price!
