when you consider the vast sea of stock MX5 driving around, a few with quality mods is a good thing in my books

not saying i will buy one,But interested all the same.
What were you looking at making them from ?,
Tin,Alloy,Stainless Steel ? maybe a mixture,I could see a tin or alloy being easy to vinyl wrap and quite cheap to produce but stainless looking classy and a bit more hardy long term.
Waiting with interest,my factory plastic one is a bit boring to look at,and quite flimsy

treadplate wrapped in CF vinyl looks amazing... but treadplate can be a bit expensive. I also recommend rubberized door trim for where the plate contacts the chassis (its the stuff you put on to the door frame to seal/absorb slams and its cheap)

Wouldn't mind a bit more shine under the hood, my radiator is looking a little outta place.

I'll be interested in a set of hard top latches. You'll have one for the side mounts too?

Hey Brownie!
We have made templates out 1.6mm Aluminium which look quite nice also also a bit of flex in the plate. Being Aluminium its fairly light and can be wrapped in 3M wrapping for those that want black ones etc. We are currently finalizing the design and fixture locations but expect the final design price to be around $45 Dollars + Shipping.
Included will be a soft rubber lip to go around back side of the plate to minimize any vibration noise and provide a good seal against the Radiator itself.
Below are some photo's of the proto-type.
